Taronga Sat 19 Dec v West Epping at Cox Park, Carlingford
The last game of 2025 was a T20 v West Epping On another hot day we lost the toss and were asked to bat first. With quick runs the order of the day it was an excellent all round batting display by Taronga. In our 20 overs we scored 7/147 – with Romo, opening the batting (27), Jess (29), Shero (13), Big Show (21 – including a huge six over fine leg) and Jacko 19no. West Pymble would have to bat well to win and they made a decent start with 0/51 off 8 – with one opener pull

Taronga Sat 13 Dec v Hornsby at Ron Payne
Saturday saw us up against Hornsby in a 2 nd v 3 rd clash. We were short of a few key players but managed to get 11 – drawing on young and old reserves. Bharani made a comeback, young Angad played his first game for the club and long time Iggie, Maca was brought out of retirement to help his old mates. Hornsby batted first and our opening bowling pair (Raj & Big Show) bowled tightly. But the outfield was quick, and with some luck Hornsby progressed without losing too

Taronga Match Report Sat 6 Dec v Northbridge at Primrose #3
A hot day on Saturday at Primrose saw us take on bottom of the table Northbridge. We lost the toss and feared the worse that we’d be fielding in the heat, but surprisingly we were asked to bat ! A decision Northbridge would come to regret in a game when records tumbled !!! The first record to go was the lowest ever combined age of our opening batsmen – with Dhruv & Dylan registering 37 years between them (rather than the 100+ years we normally have). We got to a reasona

CLASSICS vs WARRINGAH – 07/12/2025
OICC 9/175 (G Pallier 38*; S Geyer 38; N Goradia 25; C McKenzie 22) defeated by WARRINGAH 7/176 (J Osborne 3/18; N McLeod 1/30; N Butler 1/33) On a pretty flat wicket but something for both bowlers and Batsmen, 175 was never likely to be enough against a strong Warringah line-up. Once again, we got off to a pretty good start and were 4/109 at the 20th over, with Bomber McKenzie (22), Toalie (8); Nirav ‘hybrid’ Goradia (25) continuing his good form, and Neil McLeod (8), with S

Masters Match report 30/11 v Hawks at Bensons Lane (Buttts Hat trick / Morgs last laugh)
We all made the drive out to Benson’s lane no 1. The skipper had a rare coin toss loss, and we were sent out to field. The temp was reasonable, but the wind was howling across the Hawkesbury fields, tumble weeds drifting across the oval (Bails abandoned). They had a decent start to the innings until CMAC managed to upset their opening batsman by asking him “if he wanted him to slow it down” after collecting him on the grill. Butts picked him up the next over. Their innings

Match Report Taronga v West Pymble Floppys Blackman Upper, Sat 29th Nov, 2025
This week saw Taronga take on the high flying West Pymble, who were on the back of scoring 400 the previous week. It was always going to be a tough assignment, especially with a few notables missing and a few making their season debut. On a hot day, on a full synthetic pitch, the first goal was to win the toss and bat. However, with some negotiation skills that made the Treaty of Versailles look like child’s play, Sharpy, who wasn’t even playing, persuaded West Pymble that

Classics vs Nepean 23/11/25
OICC 9/118 (Goradia 39*; Frawley 31) defeated by Nepean 8/234 (Frawley 4/38; Goradia 1/20; Garling 1/52; Toal 1/55) PLAYING WITH 9 was never going to be easy, made even harder with only 4 bowlers – Thankfully Sharpie made it to bat. Losing the toss, Nepean chose to bat. We did remarkably well to restrict them to 2 for 93 in the 20th, however let ourselves down in the field, with possibly 6 dropped catches and 1 dolly from Frawls. Buttsy (0/36) bowled a great 8 straight over s

Masters Match Report v Roseville 16/11
After a slow start to the season the Masters team were up for the challenge of taking on last years premiers Roseville at Ryde. Mason and Toal overheard the umpire chatting to the Roseville captain about what an easy win they should have today!!, Toal old and very competitive was not impressed. Roseville won the toss and elected to bat on the Ryde deck that had been undercovers all night, another toss lost by the skipper but none the less we were happy with the outcome!

Taronga GW6 v West Epping at Artarmon Reserve
AB lost the toss and West Epping chose to bat. With a threat of some rain we were going to bowl anyway. It was a warm day and with a fast outfield we were looking to contain – anything under 170 a bonus. With some decent bowling we managed to keep things tight with Epping 3-79 at the drinks break, although they did get away from us at the end and finished on 189 all out (33 overs). Best bowling Sharpy (!) 3-37 (one quite amusing when a batsman stood on his stumps off the

Taronga GW5 v Hornsby at Pidding Park, Ryde
Hottest day of the season so far and not the best day to be short of players in the game against Hornsby at Pidding Park on Saturday. Plan A was to win the toss and bowl first to avoid fielding later in the day with 9 nine players with Shero having to leave early (date night and an automatic fine). We lost the toss and were asked to bat. Aaarrgh - Plan A out the window . Plan B was to put on a big score and hope scoreboard pressure would help us to victory. We got off to

CLASSICS vs Cricketers Club NSW – 9/11/2025

A GAME TO FORGET We began well with a constant flow of wickets to have CCNSW 5/51 by the 12th over with excellent opening spells from Zelly (2/31) & Buttsey (2/28), and excellent catching with a sharp one off Zell to Garlo at 2nd, and excellent outfield catching from Rav Hybrid Goradia (2), and Toalie, and Steve Sloppy Geyer effected an excellent run out. Taronga GW4 v Northbridge at Wellington Oval
Back to winning ways at the weekend in front of our biggest crowd of the season, with the Ravel supporters club – led by the ageless Frank - making the long journey from Rylstone to cheer the boys on. Batting first, we lost Big Show early. But then Sharpy dug in sharing stands of 48 with AB (19), 40 with Yogesh (27, batting beautifully before he charged “Steve” and was stumped) and 44 with Ravel (23) – almost every run we scored cheered on by the crowd. At 137-4 Nirav join

Taronga GW3 v West Pymble Floppys at Artarmon Reserve
Two very different sides took the field on Saturday – Taronga v West Pymble Floppys at Artarmon. One was a team of old(ish) blokes with a sprinkling of young guys, the other a team of fit, strong, agile mid-twenty year olds. The superior fitness and agility of these young guns (guns being the appropriate word here) was to prove the difference between the sides. We batted first and despite losing Big Show early got off to a decent start progressing to 68-1 (after 12 overs)

CLASSICS vs GEORGES RIVER 26/10/2025
OICC 177 defeated by Georges River 7/181 A very disappointing loss with a steady flow of early wickets to be 4/44 after 10, with Lanham (0), Craig Bomber Mackenzie (8), Neil Painter McLeod (4), Steve Sloppy Geyer (14), looking great once again, but cleaned up leaving one that jagged back in. Nick The Chairman Garling (48) produced one of those innings we’ve seen so often, carving out 30 off 14 balls to get back to the shed, while Frawls (5) also departed to a shocking shot to

Match Report – Round 3 West Ryde Rovers vs OICC Rorke 25/10/2025
For the third week in a row, OICC Rorke lost the toss and were sent into bat - a result they were hoping for anyway. OICC debutant and opener Lachie Hordern-Smith made a fine return to the crease for the first time since year six. He played the ball to all parts with the Puma Wonderstick, working his way to a well compiled 31 while wickets fell around him. Kris Mason came in at 6 and batted brilliantly. Playing the ball along the ground, he got his way to 50* just before

Taronga GW2 v Chatswood Premier at OH Reid
Our second game of the season and a struggle for players saw us turn out with only 8 – injuries, illness and horses depleting all the teams. Fortunately, I won the toss and naturally batted ! “Let’s be sensible, nothing silly, see if we can bat the overs and give them something to chase”. “Nothing silly ……” However, as last week Big Show was run out early and this time he only had himself to blame …. Hitting one straight to midwicket and calling Sharpy for a quick single.

TARONGA GW1 v West Epping at George Kendall
An excellent start to the season for Taronga with a win against West Epping – stars of the show, the Wanzare ‘brothers’ and Sharpy. West Epping won the toss and batted on a lovely afternoon at George Kendall. Jess (1-17), opened the bowling (nice to have a someone genuinely quick in the team), and got us off to a good start removing one of the openers early with a fast yorker. West Epping moved to 82 and were in a good position before the strangle came from AB (1-25) and
