Back to winning ways at the weekend in front of our biggest crowd of the season, with the Ravel supporters club – led by the ageless Frank - making the long journey from Rylstone to cheer the boys on.
Batting first, we lost Big Show early. But then Sharpy dug in sharing stands of 48 with AB (19), 40 with Yogesh (27, batting beautifully before he charged “Steve” and was stumped) and 44 with Ravel (23) – almost every run we scored cheered on by the crowd. At 137-4 Nirav joined Sharpy with about 8 overs to go. Sharpy, who’d generally played second fiddle to his partners before then got going – and he Rav put on 79, with Sharpy eventually run out for 98 trying to steal the strike for the last ball of the innings to bring up another well deserved ton. Nirav finished on 26no and we reached 219-5.
Northbridge were never in the game. Romo (3-15), back to his form of last season removed the top order, and Dhruv opening the bowling in his first game back, bowled well to finish with 1-9 off his 6 overs. AB (2-6) and Shero (1-16) tightened the screw and Raj picked up his obligatory 2 wickets (2-8). It was left to Ravel to finish the game, by claiming an LBW – something quite remarkable given some of the umpiring that had gone on before.
The win took us up to second in the table and we have a chance to lock that position in when we take on Hornsby on Saturday at Pidding Park, Ryde
