We all made the drive out to Benson’s lane no 1. The skipper had a rare coin toss loss, and we were sent out to field.
The temp was reasonable, but the wind was howling across the Hawkesbury fields, tumble weeds drifting across the oval (Bails abandoned). They had a decent start to the innings until CMAC managed to upset their opening batsman by asking him “if he wanted him to slow it down” after collecting him on the grill. Butts picked him up the next over. Their innings was going along reasonably well although we kept picking up wickets (Eel 3 and Dorny 1)
The highlight of the day occurred late in the innings when Butler was switched ends and took a rare hat trick, the hat trick ball a beautiful in swinging delivery that beat the batsman all ends up and took out middle stump and finished their innings. (all out for 190) The ball made even better by the fact that the ball itself resembled something that had been used in the nets for 10 years.
After a brief tea break where everyone got something to eat for a change.(Thus due to AB being out injured, resting the 152kg frame after a hamstring tweak) We went out to bat.
The star of the show was Dorney 40 (retired) closely followed by Toal 24, then Morgs had the last laugh on his classic’s teammates scoring an unbeaten 19 to get us over the line in a tight one.
It was great to secure back-to-back victories over 2 good teams.
